Ron Rivera was a player for the Chicago Bears from 1984 to 1992, and he even won a Super Bowl with them in 1985, so it’s clear that he didn’t become a coach overnight. He accepted the position of coach for the first time in 1997 after agreeing to an agreement with the Chicago Bears.

In 2011, Rivera took over as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers after also serving as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers. He contributed to the team’s 2015 NFC championship victory.
