Joyce Meyer parents: Meet Pauline Joyce Hutchison
Pauline Joyce Hutchison gave birth to Meyer in south St. Louis in 1943. Soon after she was born, her father enlisted in the military to serve in World War II.
Joyce has claimed in interviews that he started abusing her sexually after his return, and she talks about this incident in her sessions. She still has a working-class accent from St. Louis
Meyer briefly belonged to the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
She got involved in Life Christian Center, a charismatic church in Fenton, and started teaching a morning Bible class there. Meyer quickly rose to the position of associate pastor at the congregation. She was well-liked as a Bible teacher, which helped the church grow to become one of the major charismatic congregations in the region.
