Louis Carl Dobbs popularly known as Lou Dobbs is an American talk radio host, news anchor, and television commentator. Lou Dobbs is best known for his appearance on CNN shows since 1980. Lou Dobbs was born on 24 September 1945 in Childress County, Texas in the United States of America.

Lou Dobbs was born to Frank Dobbs, co-owner of propane business, and Lydia Mae, a bookkeeper. Lou Dobbs was educated at Havard University where he obtained a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He also briefly attended the University of Idaho College of Law in Moscow and then worked as cash management for Union Bank of California in Los Angeles.

Lou Dobbs started his career in 1980 with CNN where he served as the chief economics correspondent and as a host of the business news program Moneyline. Lou Dobbs was also the founder of the CNN financial news (CNN fn), serving as the president also the anchor of the program.

In 1997, Lou Dobbs left CNN to start his own website, space.com. He then works for a few years seeing the success of his website before returning to CNN in July 2000. He worked for CNN for another nine years before leaving for other News outlets.
