Is Invent Animate A Christian Band? Well, not exactly. Invent Animate is not a Christian Band. They have denied any connotations, religious or otherwise.

Formed in late 2011 in Port Neches, Texas, Invent Animate is an American band that falls under the progressive metalcore subgenre of heavy metal music.

The band started gaining traction in the early 2010s during the boom of the djent meme against online heavy metal fans during that era.

As of the writing of this article, the band has retained that early success with the release of three EPS:

  • Waves (2012)
  • Native Intellect (2014)
  • The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was (2021)

And four albums:

  • Everchanger (2014)
  • Stillworld (2016)
  • Greyview (2020)
  • Heavener (2023)

Though initially signed to Tragic Hero Records, the band has been signed with the Australian record label, UNFD since September 10, 2021.

Invent Animate Band Members

Invent Animate band members include Trey Celaya, Keaton Goldwire, Caleb Sherraden, and Marcus Vik. The band has also had three past members.

The current members and their roles in the band are as follows:

  • Trey Celaya – drums, guitar, backing vocals (studio only)
  • Keaton Goldwire – guitars
  • Caleb Sherraden – bass
  • Marcus Vik – vocals

Trey Celaya

Trey Celaya is the studio drummer for Invent Animate. As of December 2021, Celaya joined Fit for a King as their full-time drummer.

Born on August 27, 1993, Celaya was one of the founding members of the band. The drummer is a Port Neches native, though he currently lives in another part of Texas called Nederland.

The drummer started high school in 2009, and within three years had started the band, Invent Animate. In fact, he and the rest of the initial lineup wouldn’t even graduate high school until a year after the band was started.

Celaya has been in a relationship with his partner Kayla for many years, and the two tied the knot back on May 28, 2022. 

Keaton Goldwire

Keaton Goldwire is the lead guitarist for the band Invent Animate. Like Celaya, he is one of the founding members of the band.

Born on February 26, 1996, Goldwire is also from Texas but hails from a different part of the state called Beaumont. The guitarist was born to his father Harrison and his mother BJ McMillian.

Goldwire has seven siblings, and their names are:

  • Christian Murphy – Brother
  • Hunter Jeans – Sister
  • Alexandria Pace – Sister
  • Aubrey Goldwire – Sister

Unlike Celaya, he went to West Brook Senior High School, from which he graduated in 2014. The guitarist is also in a relationship with a woman named Tristan Bailey.

Caleb Sherraden

Caleb Sherraden is the bassist of the band Invent Animate. Alongside Goldwire, he is currently the only remaining founding member of the band.

Born on February 20, 1993, Sherraden is also from Beaumont, Texas like his bandmate Goldview. The bassist’s fellow bandmates see him as something of a captain amongst their crew.

The band has also officially stated that he is the business brains behind the band, and more often than not, the person in charge of making important decisions. However, the bassist is also very introverted and does not like showcasing much of himself and his opinions on social media.

Still, his steadfastness and reliability have endured him to not only his bandmates but the band’s fans too, who affectionately call him Kleb as an endearing nickname.

Marcus Vik

Marcus Vik is the vocalist for Invent Animate and their most recent member. Vik joined the band back in 2019.

Born on February 18, 1994, Vik is the only member of the band not to hail from Texas. In fact, the singer is not from America at all and is actually from Sweden. 

After the founding member and original vocalist quit the band on January 9, 2018, the band spent much of the year and the next, only releasing instrumental music. However, Invent Animate would announce Vik as their new vocalist on November 7, 2019.

Vik was previously a member of the Swedish metalcore band Aviana but has been with Invent Animate since 2019. As for his personal life, Vik is in a domestic partnership with fellow Swede, Moa Skogmo Sigvardsson.

Cody Graham

Cody Graham was once the guitarist for Invent Animate. However, Graham was only a member of the band for their debut year.

Logan Forrest

Logan Forrest was also a guitarist for Invent Animate. However, unlike Graham, Forrest played with the band until 2015.

Ben English

Ben English was the original vocalist and founding member of Invent Animate. English was in the band from 2011 to 2018.

On January 9, 2018, via the band’s Facebook page, the singer surprised his fans by saying he would be stepping away from the band because the fire that once drove him was not what it once was.
